Working Memory Assessment
Understand how your child learns, and how to help them thrive.
Working memory is the brain's "sticky note". It helps students hold information in mind and use it, for example to follow a set of instructions, work out a maths problem in their head, remember what they just read, or copy notes from the board. When working memory is a challenge, a bright student can seem forgetful, distracted or slow to finish work, even when they are trying their best.
Our Working Memory Assessment is carried out by a certified Brain Training Assessor and looks closely at how well your child takes in, holds and uses information. It helps you understand your child's strengths and the areas where they may need extra support.
Who it is for:
Students in primary and secondary school.
This assessment may help if your child:
- Has trouble following instructions with more than one step
- Forgets what they were doing partway through a task
- Struggles with mental maths or multi-step problems
- Loses track when reading or writing longer pieces
- Seems to understand a lesson, but cannot remember it later
- Is often described as "not paying attention" or "daydreaming"
What you will receive:
- A clear picture of your child's working memory strengths and needs
- An easy-to-understand report explaining the results
- Practical strategies for home and school to support your child's learning
- Guidance on next steps, if further support is recommended
Early understanding makes a real difference. With the right strategies, students can learn to manage working memory challenges and build confidence in the classroom and beyond.
